The keywords of the project name are "optical materials" and "advanced packaging materials", which are in line with the new application direction of silicon carbide substrates - AR glasses optical waveguide, AI chip packaging intermediate layer, etc.
It is reported that Tongguang Semiconductor has launched 4-12-inch optical grade silicon carbide substrates, covering a full range of products and focusing on emerging applications such as AR glasses diffraction optical waveguides, and has cooperated with domestic leading waveguide manufacturers.
In terms of advancing advanced packaging material technology, Tongguang Semiconductor is accelerating the layout of 12 inch products. Since January 2025, Tongguang Semiconductor has successively completed the research and development of 12 inch conductive and high-purity semi insulating substrates, and publicly displayed 12 inch diameter conductive SiC ingots (with a height exceeding 20mm) and 10 inch conductive substrate samples at the SEMICON China 2025 exhibition.
In addition, capacity expansion is also being carried out simultaneously. In February 2025, Tongguang Semiconductor's annual production of 200000 8-inch silicon carbide single crystal substrates project was officially launched, with an estimated total investment of 882 million yuan and a plan to achieve full production by 2027.
